Stellenbosch University students can now purchase affordable, nutritious Food Sock meal kits (R45, serves four) at Maties Coffee Hub in the Neelsie’s Matie Shop.
Launched by SUNCOM and Factory 209, this initiative addresses food insecurity and malnutrition among students with convenient, tasty one-pot meals requiring only water.
Developed by Carl van Blerk in 2023, Food Sock meals, crafted with input from culinary experts like Chef Francois Ferreira and Nataniel, offer various flavors like chicken pasta and mutton stew.
Factory 209, a Stellenbosch University subsidiary, supports this through its commercial ventures, including Matie Shops and Gradlinc.
