Working Hand in Hand for a Better Food Future

What we’re talking about this World Food Day

What Is World Food Day?

World Food Day is observed globally on 16 October each year to mark the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in 1945. Since 1979, it has become a moment for countries, communities, and organisations to:

  • Raise awareness about hunger and malnutrition
  • Promote more resilient and sustainable food systems
  • Encourage cooperation across governments, NGOs, businesses, and individuals
  • And inspire everyday action to ensure access to safe, nutritious food for all

The Theme for 2025

Each year, World Food Day carries a theme that highlights current global challenges and opportunities.

This year’s theme – “Hand in Hand for Foods and a Better Future” –  highlights that no single group can solve food insecurity alone. Building a food-secure future requires collective effort – from farmers and policymakers to businesses, NGOs, and families.

Global Challenges That Demand Collective Action

Despite FAO’s 80-year journey, hunger still affects millions. Multiple crises impact food access: Climate change, fragile supply chains, and conflict disrupt the availability of affordable, nutritious food. Nutrition imbalances are growing, with undernutrition, obesity, and food waste often coexisting in the same communities.

Disrupted Supply Chains

Extreme weather, global conflicts, and economic pressures continue to interrupt food supply systems. Strengthening cooperation ensures food reaches the communities that need it most.

Nutrition Imbalances

Food insecurity doesn’t only refer to hunger – it also speaks to the lack of consistent access to nutritious food. Across the world, families are forced to rely on cheaper, less healthy alternatives.

Food Waste and Loss

A significant percentage of food is lost before it even reaches markets, while households throw away millions of tons of edible food each year. Reducing waste requires cooperation from farm to fork.

How Heartfelt Foods Works Hand in Hand

This year’s theme resonates deeply with our mission at Heartfelt Foods. We fully believe in building a better food future by working hand in hand with communities, partners, and organisations.

Partnering for Impact

We collaborate with NGOs, schools, government feeding programmes, and relief organisations to provide affordable, nutritious meals where they are needed most.

Affordable, Nutritious Meal Solutions

Our dried meal packs combine locally sourced ingredients and chef-developed recipes to ensure every serving is balanced, nourishing, protein-packed, and vegetarian-friendly.

Sustainability and Efficiency

With a long shelf life, easy preparation, and reduced waste, our meals make large-scale feeding programmes both cost-effective and sustainable.

How You Can Join the Movement

World Food Day is not just for governments and organisations. Everyone can play a role in building a better food future:

  • Reduce food waste in your home by planning meals and storing food wisely.
  • Support local initiatives that focus on food security.
  • Partner with us to extend the reach of nutritious, affordable meals to communities in need.

Every bucket delivered to a school, every meal pack shared in a feeding programme, is a reminder that small actions create a ripple effect. Creating a better food future requires us to work hand in hand, and all of us at Heartfelt Foods are committed to standing alongside communities, partners, and individuals to ensure that nutritious, affordable meals are within reach for everyone.
